EZEFI ECU no software necessary--capability to drive 4 or 8 high impedence injectors (for dual quad applications) in a bank to bank system--true speed density fuel injection system--self learning and tuning system that will start, run, idle and drive with only a few questions answered in the handheld wizard (see wizard) and one throttle blade adjustment--includes advanced tuner area where fuel for different altitudes can be fine tuned for fuel economy or power
installation tips: ECU can be mounted in interior or engine compartment keeping a couple of things in mind:
  • mount ecu with the connector facing downward (ecu is watertight when connected to the harness, but there is less chance of moisture getting into the ecu if ever disconnected during wet conditions w/connector facing downward
  • Ecu should not be mounted within 2' of electrically noisy components (ignition box, distributor, coils, etc).
  • Ecu should be mounted in a spot that is somewhat visible (there is an LED on the front face of the ECU--it will flash if the onboard diagnostics detects a problem, it is solid with engine running normally--the handheld wizard also indicates any faults)
  • Make sure the wiring harness will reach the location you have selected for the ECU

EZEFI wiring harness The harness will have a "12V Switched" wire that has to be connected to a 12volt source that is hot with the key in the "ON/RUN and Crank" position. Do not connect to the positive side of the ignition coil. Main battery wires must be connected directly to the battery. Wires may be lengthened using 12 gauge or larger automotive wire with a very secure connection (solder and shrink wrap is suggested).
installation tips: Harness will have clearly marked labels for all connections-
  • harness will be numbered for each of the 4 injectors, IAC, TPS, ATS,and MAP sensor all located on throttle body, the CTS (coolant temp sensor-3/8 pipe thread and FAST also includes a 1/2 pipe to 3/8 reducer bushing), the 02 sensor (see 02 sensor below for correct position), and an ignition box (such as MSD -highly suggested) or the RPM module that is included (see Ignition section for better explanation)
  • Harness should be keep away from ignition components (ignition box, distributor, coils etc) as much as possible--in the case of plug wires, (or anything else with noise interference) just try to keep them from running parallel with the harness and don't tape or tie wrap to other electrical components.
  • harness will have a "Fan Relay" wire that can be wired to the negative side of a relay for powering an electric fan (do not wire directly to fan)
  • harness will also have an "A/C Input" (air conditioner switch) to bump up the idle speed and activate the electric fan output
EZEFI oxygen sensor Before you start removing your old components and installing the FAST EZ-EFI System, it may be to your advantage, while the vehicle is still driveable, to take the car to an exhaust shop to have the O2 sensor bung welded and plugged in the exhaust and then all you have to do is install the sensor when ready.
  • ideally, the sensor should be angled upward 10° above horizontal, (as pictured).
  • position the O2 sensor no closer than 20 inches from cylinder head
  • if you have headers, the collector is ideal--if you have a catalytic convertor in your system, position the sensor just upstream, if you position the sensor after the cat, this will register slightly leaner readings as compared to upstream.
Note: The system is designed for the unleaded fuels of today, the use of leaded fuel will significantly reduce the lifespan of the O2 sensor.

EZEFI rpm module EZ-EFI is an advanced fuel injection system and it relies upon the ignition system for a steady, reliable RPM signal. A noisy or dirty signal can appear to the ECU as erratic engine speed and will have an adverse effect on the engine performance and will also interfere with the learning capabilities of the EZ-EFI.
installation tips: There are two basic options for supplying the EZEFI ECU with an RPM input:
  1. Aftermarket capacitive discharge (CD) ignition:
A CD ignition box-like MSD or similar is recommended, but not included with either the 30227-kit or 30226-kit. This type of ignition will have a "Tach" output which is a clean, processed signal and is the preferred RPM source for the EZEFI system. If you're planning on using this type of ignition or already have one, the "TACH IN/RPM MODULE" wire in the EZEFI harness will connect directly to the "Tach" output from the ignition box and the RPM Module that is included in both kits will not be used and no part of the EZEFI system is connected to the coil.
  2. Inductive Coil:
Another source for an RPM signal is the negative side of the ignition coil in a traditional dwell controlled inductive ignition system. In this system the coil is fed power on one side and charged by grounding the other side- either by points or some form of electronic module, an HEI is one example of this type of ignition. To use this style ignition, the "RPM Module" is required. The RPM Module connects to the negative side of the coil and outputs a "Tach" signal to the ECU. But keep in mind, the RPM Module has it's limitations and the negative side of an ignition coil is one of the noisiest areas to try to pickup a clean signal from. In some applications, depending on how hard the coil has to work to fire the plugs-changing cylinder pressure, worn plugs or plug wires, the RPM Module might be able to deal with these challenges and feed a clean signal to the ECU but if not, it may have to be abandoned in favor of an aftermaket ignition box anyway. If you should decide to give it a try, there will be complete instructions included with the kit on how to wire the RPM module to your inductive system.
Note: When using the RPM module, you will also have to use resistor type spark plugs and resistor type plug wires- no solid core!!

EZEFI fuel system The EZEFI system requires a high pressure fuel injection rated fuel system, such as #307503 which is included with the 30227-kit (or available separately--see optional purchases.)--includes inline 550 HP pump, adjustable regulator w/gauge, billet reusable fuel filter, relay harness, one 6AN to 6AN fitting for filter to pump hook-up, and (2) 6AN to o-ring 6AN straight fittings
EZEFI throttle bodyenlarge pic Enlarging the diagram at the left will show the suggested set-up of the fuel system using the #307600 fuel line and fitting kit (components in red) and #307503 EZEFI Fuel Pump Kit, both of which are included in the 30227-kit (or available separately-- see optional purchases.) Fuel line and fitting kit includes: 25ft. of high pressure push lock #6 fuel line, (3) 6AN straight push lock fittings, (2) 6AN 90° push lock fittings, and (3) 1/2" clamps. The pre-filter (shown in diagram), isn't necessary with the FAST Fuel Pump Kit #307503--the pump included with this pump kit has a built in strainer in the inlet.

EZEFI handheld wizard The handheld wizard has a straight forward menu system that interfaces with the EZEFI system w/o requiring any laptop or computer skills. It also serves as a scan tool by displaying live data and diagnostic information and once you're past the basic set-up, you can also adjust other settings to suit your engine--rev limiter, target air/fuel, etc. It will have two cables, one will connect to the main harness (labeled HANDHELD) and the other into the cigarette lighter.
  1. Engine cubic inches?
  2. desired idle speed?
  3. EZEFI throttle body? select EZEFI single, or select EZEFI dual for a dual quad setup, or Inglese EFI, or other if it is none of these choices
  4. number of injectors? (this will be skipped if you answered EZEFI single or dual, to the above question)
  5. injector flow at 43psi? (this will be skipped if you answered EZEFI single or dual.)
  6. Fuel pressure? (enter fuel pressure you will be using. For the EZEFI throttle bodies, 43 psi is recommended. Note: entering a fuel pressure at this prompt is telling the ECU what the fuel system is set to. It does not actually set the pressure. Fuel pressure must be set and verified with a fuel pressure regulator and gauge. These components are supplied with the #307503 fuel pump kit that is included in the 30227-kit.
  7. number of cylinders?
  8. TPS Calibration Screens--the TPS sends a voltage to the ECU depending on where the throttle actually is (idle or wide open) and you will be asked to put the throttle at fully closed for a moment while the Wizard captures this value and then to open the throttle to wide open and hold this position until the Wizard captures that value. (Note: make sure that your throttle linkage from pedal is giving you full throttle & engine is off while you're performing this task.)
  • "Throttle Blade Adjustment:" This screen will have another bar graph and a target, it also shows the current rpm. Adjust the idle screw on the throttle body until the engine is idling close to what you entered for idle speed previously and the bar is centered on the target. You are adjusting the resting position of the throttle blades so that the idle motor (IAC) is operating in the preferred position to allow for enough range of motion to bring the idle up or down.
  • "TPS Idle Calibration:" Last item, because we have moved the idle screw to adjust the IAC, we now have to go back and reset the TPS Idle Calibration, same steps as you performed before startup, except you only have to capture the voltage at idle. At this point the ECU is configured for your engine and is ready to start learning more about it so let's take a look at the Live Data in real time.
EZEFI Wizard
  • DASH 1 shows: RPM, A/F, Target A/F
  • DASH 2 shows: RPM,CTS,IAC, TPS %
  • DASH 3 shows: A/F, Battery, MAP, ATS
  • DASH 4 shows: Inj DC%, Load %, Fuel LB, RPM
  • Wizard also has a few advanced settings that incl: Rev limiter settings--A/F target setting for idle, WOT, and Cruise RPM--Fan on Temp--and Accel Fuel for acceleration enrichment, all of which will be explained in detail with the instructions that come w/kits
